Bio

Musical Biography

Daniel has been a drummer from an early age, and later learned basic keyboard, and started writing his own songs. Below is a list of Daniel’s solo music accomplishments and his collaborations with other musicians/bands.

2015

In 2015, Daniel released A First Helping, his first EP. This EP was an experiment in learning how to release music digitally, and contained a bunch of electronic songs written in FL Studio.

A couple of months later, Daniel released the Conquerors EP. This EP was a natural progression from the First Helping EP, and included an experiment with writing a longer song (The Long March Home, at ~8 minutes).

2016

In 2016, Daniel released Black Hole, his first full-length album. In Daniel’s opinion, this is a large step up from the previous two EPs in terms of quality. This EP included a bit more electronic experimentation – Desert Rose is a trance song, which Daniel hadn’t tried to write previously. Tides was an experiment in writing some kind of cool ambient-sounding stuff. And Tomorrow’s Beginning/Tomorrow’s End was a neat experiment of writing two related pieces of music to bookend the album.

In this same year, Daniel provided drumming on Era of Machines‘ EP All That Is Left. This was the first EP Daniel contributed drum writing/performing to with Era of Machines.

2018

As 2018 rolled around, Daniel released a new EP, Transylvania. This EP was an attempt at a kind of instrumental concept album (concept EP?). After this year, Daniel’s solo music writing slowed down a bit, as he was busy playing shows/releasing albums/EPs in Era of Machines and Belushi Speed Ball.

Daniel also contributed drum part writing/performances to Era of Machines’ album Human this year.

Also this year, Daniel joined and wrote/performed drums in Belushi Speed Ball, on the album Belushi Speed Ball, Pt. 2: The Frank Castle Picnic.

2019

In 2019, Daniel wrote/performed drum parts for a few songs on Belushi Speed Ball’s release Prepare for Trouble.

This year, Daniel and Era of Machines also released a couple of singles and music videos for an upcoming album. The music videos are Pyramid Scheme and Living to Die.

2020

In 2020, Daniel wrote/performed drum parts on the Belushi Speed Ball album This is What We Look Like.

2021

In 2021, Daniel wrote/performed drum parts on the Belushi Speed Ball album Stella 1 and Stella 2.

2022

In 2022, Daniel decided to get back on the train of writing some solo music, and released The Summoning and The Summoning – Orchestral Version. The goal with these EPs was to 1) Improve the sound quality of the recordings compared to earlier releases – with improved drum/orchestral samples, 2) experiment with releasing an orchestral variant of a release, and 3) re-establish the habit of releasing new music.

In the same year, Daniel wrote/performed drum parts on Belushi Speed Ball’s album What, Us Worry.

Daniel also left the band Era of Machines this year.

2024

In 2024, Daniel released a new EP, Descent. This EP was Daniel’s first attempt at writing a full-on Djent/progressive metal EP, with some electronics mixed in. Also Daniel began performing at local open mic events this year, to start getting comfortable performing his solo music live.

Daniel wrote/performed drum parts on Belushi Speed Ball’s release Stellkira this year as well. A cool milestone this year was Daniel’s first out-of-country performance, performing with Belushi Speed Ball at Obscene Extreme 2024 in the Czech Republic. Link to the performance here.

Around the middle of this year, Daniel left Belushi Speed Ball to focus full-time on solo music.

Also this year, Daniel provided drum recordings for the band Splice on their single Eyes/Dump the Body in the River.
