Daniel Neel is a US-based solo instrumental musician. His music incorporates djent, progressive metal, neo-classical composition, and electronic elements. His work has been described by Sleeping Village as, “…a mad musical scientist, pouring sonic elements into a comically large Erlenmeyer flask, screaming ‘More! More!’ as the concoction bubbles and glows and overflows”.

The contours of the lava rock look roughly like a classical painting. The text "Descent" is displayed at the top of the image in a gothic font.

His latest release, Descent (2024), is a short excursion into progressive djent territory. This EP was heavily inspired by Tesseract, Animals as Leaders, The Algorithm, Charles Ives, and Conlon Nancarrow. The release combines odd time signatures, fast tempos, heavy djent, and epic symphonic instrumentation in an interesting blend. A short teaser for the EP can be streamed here.

The full EP can be streamed here, and on all streaming platforms.
